Recently reopened after a 14-month renovation, Miller Park is ushering in a new era of community connection to the surrounding urban fabric of downtown Chattanooga. Working in partnership with SMM+EDR, the project creates a dynamic public space and creates circulation between Miller Plaza, the Innovation District, and Miller Park.
The new park blends with the city context while also paying homage to the landscape of the greater Chattanooga area. Limestone and sandstone are used in a rock outcropping art space, reflecting the geology and mountainous topography of the Chattanooga area. At the far end of the park, a pavilion, called the EPB Community Stage, acts as an end cap to the park and creates a covered and technologically equipped performance venue for concerts, movies, community gatherings, and more. With the belief that parks are spaces to celebrate and enjoy the company of others, Miller Park is Chattanooga’s answer to the modern public square.
